Life events

You never know what is around the corner, so here is what to do when life changes

Getting married or divorced

Missing or incorrect details can mean that payment of your retirement savings is delayed or even prevented.

If you get married or divorced, or enter into or leave a civil partnership, you may want to change your name or beneficiaries.

To change your name you will need to contact your HR department.

To update your beneficiaries, complete a new Nomination Form and return it to your HR department. This will let us know who you would like to receive the value of your account if you die before you retire.

Leaving

If you stop working for IMI, you can:

  • Transfer your savings to another employer with a compatible pension plan

  • Transfer your savings to your State pension (Afore)

  • Continue saving by opening a Personal Pension Plan

  • Withdraw the balance of your account (you will need to leave 20% of your account value invested in the Pension Plan).

If you have worked for IMI for less than five years when you leave, you will only be able to transfer your savings built up from your own contributions (not IMI’s contributions) out of the Pension Plan. If you have worked for IMI for five years or more, you will be able to transfer the whole value of your account out of the Pension Plan.

If you open a Personal Pension Plan, you will still be able to keep track of your account online at www.oldmutual.com.mx.

See your HR Representative if you need any help when looking at your leaving options.

Illness

If you become seriously ill and can no longer work, you might be able to receive your savings early.

If you have any queries about how your benefits would be affected if you are ill, get in touch with your HR Contact.

Moving house

If you move house, you can update your personal details online at www.oldmutual.com.mx. You should also let IMI know.

Death benefits

If you die while you are working for IMI, your dependants will receive the value of your Pension Plan account. Keep your beneficiaries updated to ensure your dependants receive their benefits quickly. If you need to update your beneficiaries, complete a new Nomination Form and return it to your HR department.
